AMISTAD: Water clear; 87-91 degrees; 4.09 feet low. Black bass are good on topwaters, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, and soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on Red Fins and large topwaters. White bass are fair on crankbaits and small topwaters. Crappie are slow. Catfish are good on cheesebait, shrimp, and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines, droplines, and throwlines on live perch. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.
BASTROP: Water clear; 79-82 degrees. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastic worms with chartreuse tails. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are good on cheesebait, shrimp, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.
BRAUNIG: Water clear. Black bass are fair on watermelon crankbaits and spinnerbaits near the dam. Striped bass are fair on silver and gold spoons near the dam. Redfish are good on perch and shad near the jetty. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and stinkbait near the hot water discharge.
BUCHANAN: Water clear; 75-79 degrees; 17.87 feet low. Black bass are good on watermelon topwaters, chartreuse Whacky Sticks, and Texas rigged green pumpkin Scoundrel worms on secondary points and ledges in 10-22 feet. Striped bass are fair on small Rat-L-Traps and trolling crankbaits near the dam in 1-5 feet. White bass are fair on Pirk Minnows and Li’l Fishies over rock piles in 15-20 feet. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on live bait and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on juglines and trotlines baited with perch upriver.
CALAVERAS: Water clear. Black bass are fair on live bait. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs near the crappie wall. Redfish are good on live bait near the dam. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait and shad near the railroad trestle. Blue catfish are fair on live bait and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 76-79 degrees; 4.55 feet low. Black bass are fair on Shad Raps, Rat-L-Traps, and buzzbaits upriver near lay downs along banks in 5-10 feet early and late. Striped bass are fair on watermelon plum colored crankbaits on main lake points. White bass are fair on live bait. Smallmouth bass are fair on smoke grubs and watermelon tubes on jigheads in 8-18 feet. Crappie are fair on Curb’s crappie jigs and live minnows upriver over brush piles in 12 feet. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live bait.

I’m sorry if this question is too specific. I’m looking for some help in finding a nice restaurant near North Padre Island. It’s for an anniversary, and we would like to dress up for the occasion, so I’m looking for a place where suit/dress attire is acceptable. I’ve found quite a few places in Port Aransas, but none are very dressy. Any help is appreciated!

Answer by Queen of the Dust Mites You aren’t going to dress up in Port A. Sorry, but it is a fishing town. If you put on long pants instead of shorts you will be dressed up. You can drive into downtown Corpus Christi and go to the Omni hotel and they have a 4 star restaurant and you can dress up there. The Sheraton downtown used to have a restaurant at the top that was dressy, but I am not sure it is still open. The Coastal Bend is not a place where people dress up very often, so driving to Corpus Christi is going to be your best bet. If you don’t have to be dressy, then by all means go to Snoopy’s under the Intracoastal bridge. They have awesome fried seafood. If a fried seafood shack is not to your liking, then head to Corpus Christi and check out the Water Street Oyster Bar. Not dressy, but still good. For the coat and tie gig, your best bet will be the Omni, you can call and make a reservation.
