'Dr. Oz' wins Daytime Emmy
Dr. Oz won its very first Daytime Emmy Award on Sunday night. The event was telecast by CBS yesterday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, who first rose to national fame after making numerous appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show , began hosting the program in 2009 when it was launched by Harpo Productions. Dr. Oz was recognized in the informative talk show category.
Other Daytime Emmy winners, all of which have won in the past, included The Ellen DeGeneres Show , which was named the best entertainment talk show for the second year in a row; Cash Cab host Ben Bailey, who was named the best game show host for the second year; and soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful , which was named best drama for the third year.
There were ties in two other top categories. The award for best talk show host, which Dr. Oz won last year, was shared by Dr. Oz and the duo of Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. The award for best game show was shared by Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune .
