1987 Kx125 KIPS Timing?
I have a 1987 kx125 with the KIPS system. Never had a two stroke with powervalves before. I just recently rebuilt this bike with a forged wiseco std bore piston and resleeve kit. The previous owner had shattered the previous piston so I bought it and rebuilt and cleaned out the whole motor. As I was doing the top half I realized the KIPS wasn't connected to the control arm at the crankcase. When I asked the guy he said he had messed with them a little but didn't think they were important so disconnected them. I'm thinking they are important and notice a narrow powerband with this bike.
