Our client is a leading contractor who mainly specialise in the Residential and Hospitality divisions. Some of their major clients in the hotel sector include Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, Marriott and De’vere Hotels. Some of their most recent projects have included The Grand Hotel in Jersey where they completed a refurbishment to the whole hotel, another project was the Marriott in Norwich where they completed an extension refurbishment of the existing golf club house to provide new changing rooms, shop and bar. Our client is currently looking to recruit experienced Project Managers for various locations across the country They have a number of clients within the hotel sector in which they need Site Managers to oversee their projects. Some of their well known clients include Holiday Inn, Premier Inn andMarriott. It is essential that you have hotel experience. You will be reporting into the Contracts Manager, and will be overseeing the projects from start to completion. You will need to have a good awareness with Health and Safety and good communication skills. This role would suit somebody with the desire to achieve results by hard work and who wish to participate in the future of one of the most progressive organizations Our client will consider applicants who aspire to this level on individual merit and demonstrated success. The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary of between £40,000 - £55,000 and a generous benefits package including car/ allowance, fuel, bonus, healthcare, pension. The individual concerned will have previous experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager from a main contracting background you must be capable of managing day to day without supervision. The ideal individual will be highly motivated, idea-driven, have good communication skills and capable of exceeding expectations.

De Vere Grand Hotel, Brighton | ZOQY

Despite checking in many hours earlier we still hadn’t seen our room, which we put off even longer by stopping for a drink in the Victoria Lounge, Bar & Terrace. The bar is very popular with residents of the hotel and non residents. There are lots of staff so service was prompt. The drinks menu is extensive, and there are lots of different style seating areas. Being old and knackered from our walk earlier we chose to sit in wingback armchairs which were very comfortable. I ordered a bottle of Strongbow Cider, Laura chose a pot of Green Tea, which was served in a large teapot, with an extra pot of hot water, and a couple of cranberry shortbread biscuits. The biscuits were delicious, and all in all Laura drank about 10 cups of tea, making it better value than a greasy spoon. ;o Maybe the chairs we sat in were a little too comfortable as we ended up staying in the bar for much longer than we intended. Although the service was good in the bar and throughout the hotel, we noticed that the bar staff were very bitchy, making nasty comments about the guests. There were a few occasions when we heard them talking about the guests that they had just served, which seems a strange thing to do in front of other guests, especially considering that they earn a large percentage of their money from tips. If we heard them making derogatory comments, then other guests must have heard them too. It’s not a clever idea to bad mouth guests within earshot of other guests. Maybe they were grumpy because all of the guests were enjoying a drink and they can’t drink on duty? ;o I guess you can’t blame them, they’re on minimum wage and people are in the bar ordering Cognac at £250 per glass! It only seemed to be the staff who were serving drinks that made catty comments, even the waiters and waitresses at breakfast did the same. The other members of staff, receptionist, concierge etc. were far more professional, or maybe they were just more discreet and only made their comments when guests couldn’t hear them. Anyway, enough of that, finally we ventured up to our room which was on the sixth floor. I had booked the room online, opting for the cheapest option which was £115 as I knew we wouldn’t spend much time in it. Although it would have been nice to have had a sea view, it wouldn’t be so nice having to pay extra for it. ;o The Grand Hotel has 201 rooms all en suite with satellite TV and complimentary high speed internet.
