P&G brands launch beauty app
(NYSE: PG), in conjunction with its Clairol, CoverGirl, Olay and Pantene brands, has released a new application for iPhone and Android users called “My Beauty Adviser.”The free application allows users to learn more about a beauty product by scanning its barcode. Users also can read and write reviews of various products as well as gain personalized advice based on a questionnaire about their hair type, skin and personal beauty concerns.
“Our customers continue to tell us they need guidance to decide which beauty products to use and how to use them to get the look that they want,” Kevin Hochman , marketing director for Olay, Secret and Venus, said in a news release. “That’s why we created My Beauty Adviser – to help women find the best answers in a quick and fun way while on-the-go.”
The application, designed by New York-based Densebrain Inc., includes instructional videos and a monthly online magazine that contains articles from beauty reporters. It can be downloaded via the iTunes Application Store or here .
P&G Beauty & Grooming has more than 100 brands available in nearly 130 countries, including Head & Shoulders, Venus and Gillette.

I have been using this product for years and highly recommend it. It covers grey and lasts at least 8 shampoos for me. It is easy to apply (one bottle of color, one tube of conditioner) and does not contain either peroxide or ammonia, so it goes easy on your hair and skin. It also washes out of most things, (except it does not come off of a painted wall — don’t ask.)
If you choose a color one shade lighter than your hair, your grey hairs look like highlighted hair. Or choose your regular hair color to get a more uniform look.
Unfortunately, this product is getting harder and harder to find.
Please note: This is not temporary color, like you might use to go to a costume party and then wash out the next day. It is hair color for everyday use that will start to fade after 6 – 8 shampoos, depending upon your shampoo. (I use Clarol Color-Me-Happy, which makes this non-permanent hair dye last a bit longer.)
So I realize on the box that it says “don’t use on highlighted hair” (unfortunately I figured that out after I bought it). Thankfully, I tried it with just a section of my hair, and the un-highlighted part didn’t really come out the color on the box, and the highlighted part DEFINITELY did not come out like the box- it had a slight slight slight greenish tint.
It probably works fine for gray coverage, but if you’re looking for a very temporary hair dye, I’m not convinced that is what this is formulated to do…
… especially if you have color treated hair.
