FAA: Plane crashes in NY's Hudson Valley; 2 dead

A small plane practicing landings has crashed and burned near an airport in New York's Hudson Valley, killing the two people aboard.</p><p>Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac (SA'-lahk) says the pilot of the Cessna 172 was practicing touch-and-go landings - landing and taking off again without stopping. She says the pilot was approaching a runway at the Dutchess County Airport when the plane crashed.</p><p>Sheriff's Sgt. Jonathan Hughes says the plane went down about noon Tuesday in a field just south of the airport in Wappinger, 65 miles north of New York City.</p><p>Salac says federal investigators at the scene have reported the plane was destroyed and both victims died. The cause of the crash hasn't been determined.</p><p>No phone number is available for the plane's owner, Millbrook Flight LLC, of nearby Poughquag (POH'-kwayg).
