Dig Incubus Lyrics

Foster the People: Slowly Fostering an audience

I write the music first, usually, and a lot of times the music will make me feel something. And I really try to channel what I’m feeling and write a song that will lyrically tell a story of what the music is making me do; but on the other hand, sometimes I undercut it and do something ironic, like “Pumped Up Kicks” for example. Vulnerability is definitely the hardest thing about being a musician. But the deeper you go and the harder you dig, the better song you create, because other people can vicariously live through your emotions. Foster the People are such a grassroots success that papers have been calling their song, “Pumped Up Kicks” the song of the summer since spring of last year. Originally released on the band’s own website, the song’s gradually increasing popularity led to a major label deal with Columbia Records and their recently released full length, “Torches.” The album hit No. 1 on  the Billboard charts in the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums categories. Of the band’s steady success singer Mark Foster jokes, “it’s going to be the song of every summer.” You’re really perceptive if you got what that song was about. ... I played a song for a girl one time, and she was like, “You remind me of Prince meets John Mayer meets Incubus.” And I was just  like, “Are you kidding me? It’s like none of those things!” It happens all the time, people compare stuff. We’ve got a lot of comparisons to MGMT, Peter Bjorn and John, Phoenix and whatever. And that doesn’t really frustrate me. I think it just comes with the territory, especially when you’re a new band.

@IncubusBand and what their music means to me | @puck's Blog

You guys all know me as a music loving person, and that’s a fact that can’t be changed. I love lots of genres and always the soft part of them. I listen to r’n'b, not rap, I play house music, not techno, I like alternative rock, not hardcore.

I came across Incubus back in April. I’ve heard their “Circles” single some years ago, but it didn’t really get to me, and also “Are you in” was familiar. But they have 3 tracks that somehow keep me under their influence. It’s the lyrics, the guitar, the flow, the whole track as one.

Incubus – Dig

This songs always brings the trust back in to me, it makes me feel capable of doing changes that are for my own good. Some don’t need such stimulations at all, but seems I am one of the unluckier ones, but that’s not a big problem since I did find the remedy.

The nature of the track is a relaxed one, the soft guitar and drums are perfect, it makes you listen to the lyrics, the guitar solo just blends in.

Life is beautiful, but things get to you, smile, feel good and change your state of mind to a positive one, let no harm get to you. Sure it is important that you have simiilar friends, I believe I do, they are all positive people, they show who I am.

Incubus – Love Hurts

“Don’t wanna loose what I had as a boy” starts the track. The start of the song is sad, but somehow it has an overturn in the middle, it does hurt, “but sometimes it’s a good hurt and it feels like I’m alive”. I can’t agree more. You need to feel pain so you know what happiness is.

This track is a bit different than the previous ones, the flow of it gets to me more than the lyrics, so I still don’t know the lyrics.

All together now

As I mentioned at the start of this post, I came across these 3 tracks some months ago. Seems the timing was perfect, I was feeling about what these tracks represent: hurt, unconfidence, trust. Sure, these didn’t happen all at once. At the beginning of the year “Love hurts” would’ve explained what I had inside of me, March-April was all about “Drive”, April-May totally “Dig”.

Just so I can put it out much directly, which I should, in January I left behind a long relationship, I totally lost my faith in love and relationships, I had 2 months of denial. Those 2 months were pretty bad, I did feel alone, I wasn’t really myself for a long time. All the change came around March when I decided that I’m the one who creates his own happiness and that I should drop any form of negative thoughts or feelings, so I started taking the wheel and it got me to April where the road led me to her, and she changed everything.
