'Radio Hope' uses new platform to broadcast old message

Beginning at 6 a.m., Mack spends every morning in the small church studio sharing uplifting national news stories on Radio Hope, playing Christian music and broadcasting Sunday sermons and other church activities. The station never plays commercials or solicits money from listeners; it’s completely funded by the Center for Hope, although church officials declined to disclose how much it costs to run the station. “More and more people are hearing about the radio station, and we’ve had great feedback. We’re going to be doing some tweaking to make sure it will be good quality and start putting some signs in front of the church that people driving by can hear it,” Burns said. “And hopefully this new thing we’ve applied for, after the first of August, we’ll get a little bigger wattage, and it can be heard around the county.” All it takes Mack to broadcast now is a lightweight, two-foot antenna, a small black box and about 30 feet of cable. He also has an assortment of flat-screened computers, soundboards and microphones at his disposal in the small church studio. That equipment will stay the same regardless of whether their application to expand their broadcast coverage is approved, church officials said.

Here are some details about this new site that is currently in beta testing. It is a fun unique way to share music with friends and interact and chat. All via the world wide webs. There are 5 dj spots and it’s a turn based system. You can either search for songs or upload your own. Each person plays a song and the crowd can react by voting if the song is “Awesome” or “Lame” if enough people vote that the song is lame the song skips and its on to the next one. Each time your song is “liked” or voted awesome you get points for your avatar, the more points you get, you can change your avatar’s costume. Easy enough right? I think it’s the simplicity of the site that makes it enjoyable. If you need more info about the site check the video above.

I will start opening up the room for people to hang in while I am in the office, before I go on the radio. The idea is you can share some music, meet some people, and chat it up all at the same time. *Update* It also looks like Turntable.fm is experiencing some legal copy right issues. The whole ordeal is pretty complicated but because the site is interactive there might be some problems with the way it is being operated. All the details are laid out in this post I found online.
